FAQ

Why is the new icon created with a white circle?

When you find the created new icon is with a white circle, actually it is a watermark added by launcher of your phone system.

This situation can be solved via the following steps:

a. Long-press the home screen of your phone, you will see some mini programs on the bottom of the screen and find out “Widgets”

b. Go to “Widgets” and find out “Ume Icon Changer”

c. If you see more than one icon, it means the launcher of your phone supports multiple icon sizes. You can choose any size you like. Once you hold and drag this “Ume Icon Changer” widget to your home screen, it will open “Ume Icon Changer” application, and then you can create the new icon according to the normal procedure.

Friendly reminder: Each time when you want to create shortcut (icon) on your home screen via Ume Icon Changer, you need to repeat the steps above.

Why doesn’t Ume Icon Changer work on my mobile?

Ume Icon Changer only creates shortcut (icon) & widget on your home screen, normally such operation doesn’t need any permission from the system. For an official Google Android Version, it is a risk-free operation and doesn’t require your personal data at all. However, different mobile brands may have different rules for creating shortcut (icon) & widget (They control the Launcher, where all the icons were managed.), after they customized official Android system for their own purpose. In this case, you need to grant the “allow create shortcut permission” first so that Ume Icon Changer can work properly.

How to grant the “allow create shortcut permission” to allow Ume Icon Changer to work?

You can go to setting menu to grant the “allow create shortcut permission” according to the following steps:

a. Go to “Settings” on your phone to find out item “Apps” (or “App info”)

b. Go to “Apps” (or “App info”) and find out Ume Icon Changer

c. Go to “Ume Icon Changer” and find out the item “Permissions”

d. Go to “Permissions”, you will see the item “Create home-screen shortcuts”, check the option “Allow”, and the whole setup will be done.

Your security app may also block Ume Icon Changer from working.

Most likely, it won’t be a case, though we find some security apps may block or manage the permission to create the shortcut (icon), if your system setting is right, please check if your security apps use the same way to grant permission to Ume Icon Changer.

Don’t uninstall your original apps.

Ume Icon Changer creates a shortcut (icon) to your original app. If you uninstall the original app, shortcut will also be removed by the system. If you want to remove the shortcut (icon) created by Ume Icon Changer, just long hold it and click remove. Don’t just uninstall your original app if you still want to use this app after you delete shortcut (icon).

What will happen if you uninstall Ume Icon Changer?

If you uninstall Ume Icon Changer, the shortcuts (icons) you created will be removed by system. It is beyond our control, please make sure your uninstallation is what you desire.
